ISMG Executive Roundtable Dinner: NYC

February 07, 2019 - Ruth's Chris Steak House

ISMG’s Executive Roundtables focus on specific challenges being faced by information security executives in today’s cybersecurity landscape. Moderated by one of ISMG’s Executive Editors and a guest industry expert, Roundtables give cybersecurity professionals the opportunity to discuss threats and controls with a handful of market leaders in an informal setting, from which you will emerge with new ideas and solutions you can immediately put to work to improve your own organization’s defensive posture.

Topic

DDoS Defense: How to Break the Link to Advanced Threats

Tom Field

Tom Field

Senior Vice President - Editorial, ISMG

Over the course of the past two years, enterprises worldwide have seen a significant increase in the power and scale of DDoS attacks – some of them, based on the Mirai botnet, leveraging IoT devices. And many of these attacks have a direct link to nation state actors and their advanced threats, which use the same methodologies commonly found in DDoS toolkits. Against such threats and threat actors, traditional, perimeter-based DDoS defenses are insufficient.

What types of DDoS attacks is your organization detecting? What are the most common attack vectors? How should you refocus your defenses against DDoS and advanced threats?

If you’re looking for andwers to these questions the join ISMG’s Tom Field for this interactive roundtable that will draw from the experiences of the attendees, offering insight on how they have been able to improve detection and defense against DDoS and advanced threats. Specific areas for discussion will include:

  • What types – and size – of DDoS attacks are most commonly detected?
  • What are the most prevalent attack vectors?
  • What is the direct link to advanced threats and nation state attackers?
  • How must enterprise defenses evolve beyond the traditional perimeter to detect and prevent these attacks?

Joining Tom to provide case studies and expert insight into Netscout Arbor’s latest Threat Reports is Tom Bienkowski, of Netscout Arbor.
